Ocean Township: Former School Up For Auction

OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - In what represents a rare development opportunity at the Jersey Shore, a former school building in Ocean Township is slated for public auction this summer.

Located at 1515 Logan Road, the institutional parcel will be sold under specific terms-  the winning bidder will have the opportunity to transform the site into a six-lot residential subdivision. Situated directly across from a public park, the property offers a quiet, suburban coastal setting while remaining highly connected to public transportation, urban centers, and popular attractions. 

This property sits 15 minutes from the planned Netflix Studios site and two miles from Asbury Park beach.

The auction is scheduled for Thursday, July 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM, and will take place in-person at the Ocean Township Town Hall (399 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst).  Entry to this bidding event requires bidders to arrive prepared with a $50,000 certified cashier's check at registration to qualify for bidding.

Local officials and the auction management team (led by John Dobos of Tranzon Properties (sic)) anticipate significant interest from builders looking to capitalize on the coastal housing market. 

“This is an extraordinary opportunity for residential developers,” noted Dobos, “With its proximity to the beach, the park-front views, and the pre-approved path for a six-home subdivision, 1515 Logan Road represents some of the most desirable real estate hitting the Monmouth County market this year.”

To ensure a smooth process, the Township partnered with Tranzon to handle the sale. Ocean Township Mayor John Napolitani  stated that the council chose the firm because they “work within our timelines and ensure bidders compete in a transparent environment.”
